Our award-winning artist, Cindy Oberlander, is the founder of The Art Glassery, LLC in Reno, Nevada. She has been creating lovely custom stained glass pieces for her clientele since 1992, and continues to find fascination in the brilliant colors of glass, as well as the intricacies of accurate cutting and fitting of the individual pieces of glass in each project. Nature themes are a recurring presence in her work and she enjoys the challenge of engineering strong windows with structural integrity.
Artist/founder Cindy Oberlander has won recognition for her designs from diverse entities, including “Best Design” from American Bevel, Inc.’s Designer division, a company well-known? for its premium-quality glass bevels. Her custom creations have been placed in home and office environments in? Nevada, Texas, California, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois, Washington, Kansas, South Dakota, Tennessee, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Florida.
Always eager to share her love of glass art, Cindy has instructed beginning and continuing students in both
the lead and foil techniques of stained glass fabrication for over 20 years.
Her motto is: “Don’t panic until I tell you to.”
She consistently receives high praise from students, having taught at The Nevada Museum of Art, Truckee Meadows Community College,
H & H Glass Studio, Tapestry Glass Studio, and the Copper Cat Studio to name a few.
Her promise to her students is: “I don’t quit until you win!”
Project classes provide a quick window into the fun of working with stained glass. Each class focuses on a specific project and usually lasts 6-8 hours. These classes are presented in 3-hr sessions.
Fundamentals covered include learning to cut glass, apply copper foil to the edges, and solder the project together. Cindy says, “There is something wrong if we are not laughing out loud at least once in every class.”
For students who are seriously interested in advancing their knowledge of stained glass fabrication, Cindy offers Learn The Craft classes. Beginning students will learn the Leaded Method, while returning students can enroll for the Copper Foil Method.
Learn The Craft classes entail a full 24 hours of instruction, and cover all the information needed to become a stained glass hobbyist.
As the intent of this class is for students to complete a rectangular panel in the studied method, attendance is crucial.
There are no classes currently scheduled.
